Paradise
Backstory
‘Paradise’ was recorded onto a cassette in 1995 living in a forest in the mountains. The first and only time I played bar chords on electric guitar. I set up a live mic and belted out the first verse and chorus over and over performing to the trees. I never wrote more verses. I didn’t really know what to do with it - until Suno. I quickly wrote some fresh lyrics that seemed to fit the song in the INXS style. I think it was about how we escape the mundane into the paradise of our own imagination.
Lyrics
Just another rainy day Sensurround in shades of grey Although I know somewhere the sun is shining Concrete towers around my head I can't tell if I'm alive or dead I'm trying to understand what I'm doing But, there is a place that you all know, it's called paradise Yeah, there is a place that you can go, it's called paradise Paradise Just a dark and dismal night Stuck inside under neon light Although I know outside the moon is shining. Walls all seem to be crashing down Distracting flashes all around My eyes are burning. But, there is a place that you all know, it's called paradise Yeah, there is a place that you can go, it's called paradise Paradise Just a crowd of empty people Herded up like mindless sheeple Although I know a glimpse is shining. Exploding out and blowing minds Is there a chance that they could find Some other way of being. But there is a place that you can go, it's called paradise There is a place that you all know, it's called paradise Paradise!!!! There is a place that you can go There is a place that you all know, it's called paradise Paradise! Paradise. Paradise. Paradise
