IT'S ONLY ME

SWITCH ALBUM: HYPE SURREAL IT'S ONLY ME

Hippies of the 60s

Backstory

I wrote this back in the early 80s but never got around to recording it. I was part of the peace movement and the urgency back then was surviving nuclear war (see Nuclear Cowboys). But no one really seemed to get off their butt to do anything - even though everyone knew the truth. Today the call still goes out - what have we done!?

Lyrics

Where are the hippies of the sixties They were to start a new race Where are the cosmics hiding Don't you think it's time you showed your face They were supposed to be aware Now they don't seem to care We've all seen it (We've all seen it) Clear as day (Clear as day) (The truth behind The truth behind) The games we play (The games we play) We shared a vision (We shared a vision) The world as one (The world as one ahhhhhh) And now your children ask What have you done What have you done Surely, they've all come of age Treated with honour and respect Power to do something that counts Now if you have a cause then let it affect Don't lose your voice While you still have a choice A choice (A choice) A choice (A choice) A choice (A choice) A choice... No, I'm not off my head No, we're not better dead Yes, we've really done it this time And yes, there's a reason and a rhyme We've all seen it (We've all seen it) Clear as day (Clear as day) The truth behind (The truth behind) The games.
