The Optimistic Blues

Backstory

I grew up with The Beverly Hillbillies theme song by Flatt and Scruggs and in my teens I was really into The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band. I really liked the whole Vaudeville thing. I don’t remember when I wrote it but I think it was in the mid 80’s still coming out of my years working at a folk venue restaurant with influences like Glenn Cardier - tongue-in-cheek, fun folk stories. This Suno track was created from the original guitar and vocal rough demo cassette recording from way back then.

Lyrics

They're mutually exclusive, though quite conducive Not to mention kind of fun They'll keep you guessing, now I'm confessing The optimistic blues I'm feeling happy, that I'm so snappy I know there's really no hope at all Oh, why be lonely, when life is only The optimistic blues When giving up seems near, you know Your spirits must be falling low Just trust in what you know inside Soon the ebb will turn the tide Oh so confused The optimistic blues There is no reason, life has its season Some fall to ruin on the way As all advances, we take our chances The optimistic blues Don't look rejected, some are selected When there's little hope at all Then from abandon, come back to land on The optimistic blues When giving up seems near, you know Your spirits must be falling low Just trust in what you know inside Soon the ebb will turn the tide Oh so confused The optimistic blues When giving up seems near, you know Your spirits must be falling low Just trust in what you know inside Soon the ebb will turn the tide Oh so confused The optimistic blues Oh so confused The optimistic blues Oh so confused The optimistic blues Oh so confused The optimistic blues
