Digital Dreamland
Backstory
This song has had many many iterations through the decades but was written back in the early 80’s while I was running my 8-track analogue recording studio and all the new synths, samplers, drum machines and sequencers were coming out and it truly seemed like a digital dreamland. This Suno mix was based on a half-finished re-recording from 2012 for an album I half recorded and then shelved. This was the only salvageable track - now made real by Suno (and some clever prompting!)
Lyrics
Children with computer eyes Reflect the bright electric skies Where cities feed from satellites A billion bits in gigabytes Computer language on their lips Crystallised in microchips Beat the system, break the code Save it, verify and load We're living in a digital dreamland Electrons flashing across the screen We're living in a digital dreamland There's still so much left to dream Dream on... (dream... dream... dream) We play our songs on micro-discs And face a guided missile risk While businessmen with ten-gig watches Calculate the cost of scotches Remote control of situations Play the games or change the station Set the microwave for dinner Even mother is a winner She's living in a digital dreamland Electrons flashing across the screen She's living in a digital dreamland There's still so much left to dream Dream on (dream... dream... dream) As knowledge spreads between us And the truth begins to shine Quantum chip cloud storage disks May liberate our minds Liberate our minds Liberate your mind..... We're living in a digital dreamland Electrons flashing across the screen We're living in a digital dreamland There's still so much left to dream Dream on Dream on Dream on Dream on
